A virtual classroom is a teaching and learning environment where participants can interact, communicate, view and discuss presentations from anywhere in the world, provided that they have internet access.
The connection will often be through a video conferencing application that allows several users to be connected at the same time over the Internet.
Blackboard Collaborate is a tool that provides real-time video conferencing and lets you add files, share applications, and use a virtual whiteboard to interact. Blackboard Collaborate opens right in your browser, so you don’t have to install any software to join a session. Blackboard Collaborate also has a feature called breakout rooms, which allows for small group work in an online setting.
Blackboard Collaborate allows you to facilitate teaching and meetings in multiple locations simultaneously, such as between campuses, or while students are on placements.
It allows you to build communication and engage your students, and fosters collaboration without the geographical barriers.
Blackboard Collaborate is linked via Blackboard. To access and set up a Blackboard environment, click on the Tools menu and select “Blackboard Collaborate Tool”.
