Building familiarity with online tools – Gilly Salmon’s 5 stage model

Image of a chalkboard with a stick person climbing up steps to an illuminated lightbulbA brief 5 stage model on supporting students who are new to online learning. A good starting model for introducing students to, and help the lecturer structure, online learning courses and to support students for successful online learning. Best used at the planning stage/ early stages of developing an online learning course, to help give a developmental structure to your course and support students in their online learning and interaction. The 5 stage model is very much an outline with broad suggestions, rather than a specific and detailed step-by-step guide.
