Unusual work experience !

This collaboration between SALT and SEA looked at some of the challenges involved in creating meaningful placements, be they credit or non-credit bearing.

A range of placement schemes are already offered by Colleges and the University – this seminar provided an opportunity to share best practice in what works for the student, employer and university staff involved.

It was be led by the two academy directors with input from other contributors and drew on many years’ experience of working with students and employer to discuss:

  1. Why a ‘placement’ – what’s in it for the student, the employer, the University ?
  2. The paperwork to make it happen
  3. Developing an effective assessment strategy
  4. How the student learns from the process
